The Kansas State Department of Education ( KSDE) Safe and Supportive Schools Conference is back again this year with a new Cybersecurity track, along with Communications, Mental Health, Social and Emotional / Trauma Informed Care, Safety, and Student Data Collection and Data Privacy.

Kirk M. Carpenter: Education and School Safety Consultant
Kirk M. Carpenter dedicated thirty-one years to the Aztec Municipal School District, beginning his career as a teacher for eight years before progressing into administrative roles over the next twenty-three years. His positions included Assistant Principal, Principal, Deputy Superintendent, and twelve years as Superintendent, while also contributing as a football and baseball coach for fourteen years.
Mr. Carpenter has served on several educational boards in New Mexico, notably as President of Cooperative Educational Services and the Superintendent’s Association. He played a pivotal role in implementing Sandy Hook Promise programs statewide and has been invited to present on school safety topics across more than ten states. Presently, he operates a school safety consulting firm and instructs college-level leadership courses.
In recognition of his contributions, Mr. Carpenter was named New Mexico Superintendent of the Year in 2014 and inducted into the New Mexico Coalition of Educational Leaders Hall of Fame in 2021. He remains active in education, collaborating with colleagues nationwide.
